Your health is IN direct proportion to the beliefs you hold about yourself.
Changing one’s health for the better is obviously more than what we eat or do. You see, your thoughts are directly linked to your beliefs and reality. If you think you’re fat/unhealthy/sick then you are. This is why it’s so deeply important to improve one’s beliefs about oneself. Where are you focusing your thoughts and energy?
You’re a powerful creator and whether you are aware of it or not you are constantly creating your own reality and yes your own health too. Think of yourself as a painter for a moment…. Your thoughts become your paintbrush, your beliefs are the colors, and your canvas is your life/health/body. Now then, what type of painting do you want to paint?
This reminds me of something Van Gogh once said: “I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.”
Just like he created masterpieces, so can you. If you want to create good health and wellbeing then you must start by believing you already are in good health and wellbeing. But how can you believe something that perhaps you don’t yet experience?
Let’s take the example of the person who believes they are fat (overweight). If this person sees themselves in the mirror every day and when dressing notice that pants fit tighter every day then it’s probably very difficult for them to believe that they are at their perfect weight and look like an athlete, right? Well then, how can this person start to change their beliefs??
There are many ways to do this and no one way is made to help everyone. This is where health coaching takes it’s importance because a coach can help every person find their own way that is comfortable and easy for them to apply. Even so, I want to share with you one way that you can try to change your beliefs about yourself….
What I’m about to tell you gives varied results depending on the person’s resolve and focus and desire to truly change their beliefs about their weight. Let’s say that this person is trying this method as a last resort, one last glimpse of hope.
They will need to begin by looking withIN themselves for the reasons why they are holding on to their current beliefs about their body. This reason can be related to something in the past, in their childhood or the last few years. This person would have to ask themselves when did they start believing that they are overweight? Why did they start to believe this?
Once they find that answer then they can start to understand themselves better. They can understand where they obtained this belief about themselves and now they can start to work towards changing it. They will need then to ask themselves, what belief do they want to create or think about themselves and their body? What do they want? and why is this important for them?
Once having defined this then the person can start to use their mental faculties to begin shifting their beliefs. Do be aware that the above is an overly simplified description of the process they must go through. They can use again various methods and this is where a health coach can help them figure out what methods to try depending on their individual situation.
In all honesty, changing one’s beliefs about oneself…. changing one’s health and wellbeing is a task that is challenging and difficult if not almost impossible to some but with the help of a health coach as their guide and expert in the field the task becomes a lot easier to accomplish and in the end the results might be surprisingly unexpected and beyond what one ever thought possible.
